Over the past two decades, Kyle has worked in a range of mental health settings, including private practice, residential and outpatient substance-use treatment, behavioral health services for children in schools and foster care, and community programs for adults and families.
Her work focuses on helping clients navigate trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, addiction, and major life transitions. She also specializes in relationship counseling, divorce recovery, and healing from narcissistic abuse.
About Marriage and Family Therapy
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) are mental health professionals trained to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals, couples, and families within the context of their relationships. LMFTs use a systems approach, recognizing that personal well-being is often influenced by family dynamics and other close relationships.
As a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), Kyle upholds the organization’s standards of ethics, professional development, and excellence in relational therapy.
A Unique Approach
Marriage and Family Therapists are trained in both psychotherapy and family systems. This allows them to view challenges within the broader context of relationships and interactions rather than seeing problems as isolated to one person.
Who MFTs Work With
MFTs provide therapy for individuals, couples, and families. Regardless of who the client is, the focus remains on relationships and how they shape emotional and behavioral health.
Family-Based Change
Family-based therapy is a powerful model for growth and healing. Research shows that relational approaches used by MFTs are often as effective – or more effective – than other forms of therapy, and frequently at a lower cost.
Areas of Focus
MFTs help clients with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, mood disorders, and substance use.
A Holistic Perspective
MFTs take a whole-person approach to care, supporting both the individual and their relationships to promote long-term well-being.
Short-Term, Effective Therapy
MFTs often provide short-term therapy – about 12 sessions on average – with most cases showing meaningful progress within 20 sessions.
Our Approach
Therapy at Keweenaw Counseling Services is built on the belief that every person already has the capacity to heal and grow. The goal is not to fix you. It is to help you reconnect with your own strength and uncover what has been standing in the way of change.
Kyle’s approach is compassionate, honest, and down to earth. Sessions are collaborative and focused on what works for you, not on rigid methods or labels. You will find a safe space where you can be yourself, feel respected, and explore life’s challenges with curiosity rather than judgment.
Each person’s story is different, and every session reflects that. The work is client centered and mindful of each individual’s spiritual, cultural, and personal background. It is a partnership designed to support meaningful and lasting growth.
